What Happens When You Order Online? A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Fulfilment

Receiving orders in real time 

When our customers place an order, we receive it in one of two ways; either via email or directly through Mintsoft, our warehouse management system (WMS). 

Orders via email 

If any order is sent to us via email, we’ll manually input the details into Mintsoft under your account. Each product is linked to its unique SKU (Stock Keeping Unit), so we know exactly what we’re picking later on. 

Orders via Mintsoft 

If the order comes through Mintsoft directly, it’s even easier. We’ll get a notification straight away and can start preparing to action the order. If anything’s missing, like carton labels or an Amazon FBA/ID number, we’ll get in touch with you to make sure everything’s sorted before moving forward. 

With the order now in the system, we’re ready to get cracking on the picking and packing!

Picking, packing, and quality checks 

At this stage, it’s all about accuracy. We know mistakes cost time and money, so we’ve carefully built a process to get it right the first time. 

The picking process 

Using the SKU from the order, we match each product to the pick list. Every item is double-checked to make sure it’s the right one before moving on. No guesswork here—just precise, efficient picking. 

Packing like pros 

Many of our clients work with Amazon, which means we’ve got their packing standards down to a fine art. For example: 

• Cartons are packed onto pallets that don’t exceed 180cm in height. 

• We use standard-sized pallets (120cm x 100cm). 

• Cartons are labelled in the top-right corner, and the pallets themselves are labelled in the same spot for easy scanning. 

• Once the cartons are packed, labelled, and stacked on a compliant pallet, we know they’re ready to move. 

Built-in quality assurance 

Before anything leaves our hands, we run a final check to make sure everything matches the order. From SKUs to labels to pallet requirements, we’ve got a thorough process in place to catch any issues before they become problems. 

Sharing shipment details

Now that the order is picked, packed, and ready to go, we send you all the key details you’ll need for the next steps. This includes: 

• The number of pallets. 

• Pallet dimensions. 

• Shipment weight. 

With this information, you can share it with Amazon or your chosen recipient, who will use it to prepare for the delivery. Amazon will send back an FBA number and ID number, which allows us to track and identify the shipment at every stage. 

Dispatch and delivery 

The final step is getting your order out the door and on its way. At SSD Logistix, we handle all the logistics to ensure an easy and smooth collection and delivery process. 

Booking the transport 

We use the FBA number and ID to book your pallets for collection. Depending on the size of the order, we’ll choose the best method of transport, either through a haulage company or via a transport network. 

Keeping you in the loop 

Once the collection is booked, we’ll confirm the date with you, so you know exactly when it’s happening. From the moment the pallets leave our warehouse to the time they’re delivered, we keep you up to date through the whole process.
